second on Thursday, June 12 during the JR II race at
Ransomville Speedway. Haley started 2nd and Austin 4th
a
nd the wave of the green flag Haley moved into the lead and
Austin followed her putting him in second. Austin put the
pressure on his sister with 2 laps to go but Haley was able to
hold on for the win and Austin came home in 2nd. This was
Haley
's 3rd win in the last 4 races at The Little “R” and Austin
has two 2nd place finishes in back to back races there. Haley
is now in the points lead and Austin is just 8 points out of 3rd
place. Team Oakes will be back at Ransomville on June
19th. Racing starts at 6:30 pm come out and watch Team
Oakes along with over 60 of the finest Go kart racer’s in the
area.

June 4-Team Oakes in the Point’s Lead!!

Haley Oakes won the JR II race at Ransomville Speedway for
the second week in a row and now is the point’s leader with
an 8 point lead over James Moll. The night started out a little
“rough” when Haley was served with a penalty for rough
driving during the first heat race. She then went on to win the
second heat race. Haley started 3rd and about mid way
though the race moved into 2nd then on lap 13 took over the
lead for the remaining 2 laps to take the win. This was her
2nd win in a row at Ransomville and 3rd over all. Austin
started 5th in the feature race and was running very well in the
4th position most of the race up until the last lap when he was
shuffled from 4th to 7th.   Austin is currently in 5th place in
points. Team Oakes will be back at Ransomville Speedway
June 5th racing starts at 6:30 pm
.

May 28- Haley Takes Checkers twice this week!!

Haley took first in Ransomville Speedway Go Kart
action on Thursday night, May 22, and at Waterloo
Speedway on Saturday night, May 24, in the Junior II
class. Haley led the entire sixteen laps after taking the
lead during the first lap at Waterloo.  Austin was
running in second at Waterloo, but a late spin caused
him to finish in third. At Ransomville Haley took the lead
on lap seven and held it for the remainder of the race
with Austin finishing fourth. Haley is currently tied for
first place in points in Junior's II at Ransomville with
James Moll; Austin is fifth in points.

May 20-Austin gets 5th at Divisionals!!

Austin Oakes took 5th place at Shellhammer Speedway
in Shoemakersville , PA. in his first WKA (World Karting
Association) Race on Sunday, May 4th. He started last
in the feature race, due to an error made by his father
during qualifying. He worked his way up through the
field to finish 5th. His sister Haley qualified 13th and
after a hard race moved up to and finished 10th. This
was also her first WKA Divisional Race. I was very
proud of both kids as they raced very hard and against
some of the best competition in PA, NY, WV & MD.

The day before Saturday, May 3rd both Haley & Austin
finished 3rd at Shellhammer Speedway. Haley also
captured her first heat race win of the year.

Thursday, May 8th the team was at Ransomville
Speedway for the season opener. At Ransomville the
kids are pitted against each other and the first heat race
they crossed the finish line side by side with the win
going to Austin , for his first heat win of the year. Both
kids started on the front row for the feature Haley lead
the first 12 of the race when a late caution came out (
Austin was spun out ). On the restart she lost two spots
to finish 3rd and Austin finished 6th.

Saturday, May 10th the kids were in DuBois , PA at
Race 1 Motorspeedway for a money race for Haley,
$100 to win the extra feature race. It was a night of 3rd
place finishes in three features. Austin started 3rd and
finished 3rd after 15 laps at Race1 Motorspeedway.
Haley started 3rd and finished 3rd in the first feature, for
her second feature she started 5th and again finished
3rd. Both kids have worked very hard over the last
week having four races in eight days which included
over 1,000 miles of traveling.

April 24- The weather held off this past weekend and
we went racing!! The kids ran well on Friday at
Selinsgrove with 12 other karts. A late caution made for
a green, white, checked finish. Both Haley and Austin
lost two spots on the restart and finished 7th and 9th
respectively.

We then went to Shellhammer Speedway on Saturday
which went well for Austin and very rough for Haley.
Austin finished 2nd in his heat race and started outside
pole for the feature. A few changes made to the kart
prior to the feature proved to be the wrong call by dad.
Austin joined 9 other karts for the start and quickly fell
from 2nd to 6th in the first 3 laps and by the time the
tires came in it was lap 12 and his last 4 laps were his
fastest of the night moving him up to 4th place when
the checkers waved. This was Austin's first time at this
track and his highest finish of this year, Great run
Austin!

Haley was one of the fastest karts in practice and she
drew the outside pole position for the heat race and
that's when her luck ran out. She was running side by
side with the pole sitter through turns 1-2 and into turn
3 but coming out of turn 4 she got a little high and slid
up the track and into a steel wall. The hit to the wall
ended her night with a bent frame. Haley was ok but did
have some bumps and bruises but walked away.

I have to thank Jody and Tim from Performance mfg. in
Middleport, NY manufacturers of SLACK Chassis for
their help and support in getting Haley into a new
chassis the very next day. If all goes well she will not
miss a race. It is great to know you have support like
that from your Chassis manufacturer and I encourage
anyone who has not tried a SLACK Chassis to give

Performance
a call and tell them Team Oakes sent you. I
am sure you will not be disappointed.

April 16- The kids are ready to go racing! The
weather is looking good and we have a double
header this weekend in PA. Selinsgrove on Friday
and Shellhammer on Saturday. Good luck kids!!

and the kids had there first race at Selinsgrove
Speedway in PA on March 21. Both kids raced in the
Junior II class and Haley finished 5th and Austin 6th.
